Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) related that the Prophet (PBUH) said, “After the death of a person, his actions stop, except three things that he leaves behind: first, continuous charity, second, knowledge from which some benefit may be obtained, and then, a virtuous son who prays for him.” (Muslim)

 

Waqf (religious endowment) is a form of permanent charity. It literally means: standing, stopping and halting. It technically signifies the appropriation or dedication of property to charitable uses and the service of Allah.

Waqf is a sum of money or property which is kept as a trust and the income generated from it, is used to support some specific charitable causes.
